When San Jose homes need new ducts
Ducts sit in the attic or under the floor, where rodents can damage them. Common reasons to replace them:
- The outer jacket is torn or missing and the insulation shows.
- The duct is crushed, kinked or sagging.
- A duct has come loose and blows air into the attic or crawl space.
- Rodents chewed holes in it, or left droppings on or inside it.
- The attic or crawl space is being cleaned and the old ducts are damaged.
New ducts often go in alongside other work, because the space is already open. See attic insulation in San Jose and crawl space cleaning in San Jose.

What we install
We replace whole duct systems, not single runs, with new flexible ducts that have insulation built into the jacket. The old, damaged ducts are removed and leave with us. The new ones are run and supported to fit the height and layout of your attic or crawl space.
New ducts can be done together with new insulation, or after attic or crawl space cleaning, in the same visit and on the same written quote. It is a one-day job.

San Jose is Climate Zone 4: what that means for ducts
California’s energy code groups the state into 16 climate zones, and it uses San Jose as the standard weather city for Zone 4 (see Table 2-1). Some duct rules in California’s energy code depend on the climate zone. Zone lines can cut through a ZIP code, so check your own address with the California Energy Commission climate zone tool.
A recent job nearby
Ducts are often replaced as part of a bigger job. In Fremont, one of our finished jobs combined rodent proofing, attic and crawl space cleaning, new batts and new ducts. See the Fremont project.
Job day
Please be home, and clear the path to the work areas of breakable items. The crew covers the path from your front door to the work areas with drop cloths or plastic sheeting, and our crew sends you before and after photos.
